I had a Talk with her about it. She seemed contrite. Fifteen minutes later she had come down to my office to complain. Apparently she brought a different department's fan into another room in the library (another study room...not the one she was using???) and she left it there over the night. It wasn't there when she returned. I checked with our janitors but they didn't take it. She was upset with us because it wasn't even her fan. Then she wanted to know if she could buy her own fan, keep it in the library and store it behind the library circulation desk when she wasn't using it. I said no.
Interestingly enough, her boss came by the next day to apologize about her behavior.
...which leads me to wonder how she learned about her behavior. All the same, I appreciate it. I mean, I know it wasn't her fault, but I still appreciate it.
