After some thought and consideration and angst and guilt and worry, I've decided not to visit my family this year for Thanksgiving.  My dad and stepmom are always drunk the whole time anyway (and are generally racist, homophobic Trumpists) and I'm still quite hurt about the whole "hide my nephew's existence from the family, scream at me when I find out and then falsely tell the extended family I screamed at you" bit from my mother.

And quite frankly, I can't deal with the extra stress right now.

Good for you -- I imagine you'll have a much nicer holiday! It always strikes me so odd that it's a matter for open discussion that people dread the fallouts from holiday family reunions and yet people keep going to them. It's rather like the way the media keeps reporting on how Trump keeps lying yet just keeps reporting on him instead of cutting him off until he has something legitimate to say.
